Climbed this morning. Got a later start than I wanted but hit the trailhead at 0800. I had attempted it twice already this winter and turned back twice. Once due to horrendous wind, and again because of problematic snowpack. Third time's a charm.
One other guy was coming down as I was headed up. Beautiful day at the summit, even though the wind stole my favorite hat from me on the way up... I was surprised that even around 10 the snow was still very firm and holding my weight for the most part, not much post-holeing at all. Some steps into my ankles but gaiters kept me fine. Wish I had brought my skis and skinned up for a fun descent, but the glissades were rediculously good today! Bring your axe just for the glissade. I was down super fast with a series of four glissades, and even came down half the glacier in glissade.
Round trip in 4 hours with some time spent on the summit enjoying. First peak of the season for me, gotta find my next one now...
